Thanks to our charm, killer looks, and the fact that we are Midwest nice, South Dakotans are some of the BEST people to date and marry! The awkward part of this, however, is the beginning of the relationship and deciding just where to take that special someone. While there are tons of places to visit around SoDak, we recommend avoiding these 7 places on your first date:
Yes, BBQ is the nectar of the gods and some of the tastiest food around... however, it is also super messy and almost always results in chunks of meat in your teeth, and sauce all over your face and clothes. Save the BBQ for after you get married and opt for something a bit cleaner, like a German bakery or cured meat on a stick (Chislic).
Mount Rushmore is the epitome of South Dakota and deserves to be visited time and again, but guess what? SHE OR HE IS FROM HERE AND HAS VISITED MOUNT RUSHMORE SINCE THEY WERE IN UTERO! It's a beautiful place, but try to come up with something a bit more original.
...because nothing says "What the heck?!" quite like a 12-foot-tall, 6-ton sculpture of a prairie dog. (The only redeeming part of this idea would be to drive further into town to visit the Prairie Homestead Historic Site.)
Look, we love Storybook Land as much as the next person (if not more so), but this is better to save for your son, daughter, niece, and nephew, and not your love interest.

We LOVE us some Mt. Rushmore Black Hills Gold and feel blessed to live near a wonderful jeweler that allows us to tour their facility and see how their pieces are made... however, unless you are ready to fork over big bucks and commit yourself to your sweetie, you may want to wait and take the tour later on in the relationship.
The Center of the Nation Monument is definitely one of those places you should visit just so you can say you've seen it, but there is literally nothing else to this but the monument itself.
