If so, we have great news, as – if you are a native South Dakotan – one of the best and most affordable destinations in America is right in our own backyard! The Mount Rushmore State was just named one of the seven best destinations in the country for an inexpensive getaway:
Coming in at number six, Rapid City is deemed affordable for several reasons, including the number of direct flights from other major airports, the vibrant arts scene, outdoor recreation opportunities, and - of course - the famous landmarks that surround the famous SoDak city.
Admission to Mount Rushmore? Free (minus a small parking fee). Hotels and restaurants? All competitively priced! A fabulous downtown area with plenty of things to see and do? Rapid has that, too!
If you are a lover of all things outdoors, you are going to flip for Rapid City, too! The town is situated within the Black Hills, meaning there are plenty of places to drive, hike, bike, fish, walk, and photograph.
