Here Are 12 Awesome Things You Can Do In South Dakota For $10 Or Less
Having fun on a budget can be tough. That’s why we’ve taken the liberty of making you a list of amazing things you can do in South Dakota for under $10.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:
1. The Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls.
You can visit the Visual Arts Center Admission for only $7 per adult and kids are free! If you're in the mood for a movie, visit the Wells Fargo Cinedome located in the Pavilion. The cost for the Cinedome is only $5 per adult and $3 per child.
2. Storybook Land in Abderdeen.
Storybook Land is brimming with adventure for kids and adults alike. The best part of visiting this park is that admission is absolutely free. Bring the kids and their friends out to enjoy an afternoon in Aberdeen.
3. The Corn Palace in Mitchell.
Why not visit the World's Only Corn Palace? Especially considering admission to this one of a kind attraction is completely free.
4. Mount Rushmore.
This National Memorial is one that everyone should make time to visit. So much of South Dakota's history can be learned about by visiting. Admission to see the memorial is free. Parking is charged by the vehicle so bring some friends and split the $11 parking fee, making it well under $10 per person.
5. Midway Drive-in Movie Theatre in Miller.
This adorable drive in is one of few left in the country. It opens up for the summer in May and is cheap entertainment for the whole family. See a current film for just $6 per person for those age 13 and up. Those 12 and under are free.
6. The Butterfly House in Sioux Falls.
For a unique way to spend an afternoon in any season, head over to the Sertoma Park Butterfly House. You'll be amazed at the warmth of the greenhouse and the serenity of being in nature with butterflies fluttering around you. Adults are $10 and youth are $7.
7. South Dakota Air and Space Museum in Ellsworth.
A hidden gem of South Dakota is the SD Air and Space Museum. Full of history and learning opportunities, this museum costs only $8 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and its free for kids 5 and under!
8. Adams Museum & House in Deadwood.
Who knew you could visit the Black Hills' oldest history museum for under $10?! Stop by the Adams Museum and pay only $5 for adults and $2 for children. This museum is jam packed with cultural and historical lessons.
9. Skate City in Sioux Falls.
The nostalgia at Skate city is enough to take you right back to elementary school. All that nostalgia for only $5 per person? How could you say no!
10. Prairie Village in Madison.
Situated in Madison, SD, Prairie Village is a mecca of buildings and automobiles from the past. The antiques, collectibles and tractors will take you way, way back. Only $5 for adults and $2 for kids ages 6-12. Kids 5 and under are free!
11. Archery at NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Complex.
Feeling fierce? Check out a local archery complex like this one in Yankton. Practice your skills for only $5 if you're a member and $10 if you're not.
12. Royal River Casino & Hotel.
Visit Royal River Casino for a chance to turn your $10 into $10,000.
