Get ready South Carolina, because the mother of all solar eclipse festivals has been in the works for the big day for quite some time – and you’ll be surprised at every facet of this fantastic festival. Welcome to Yonder Field, a new 30k capacity outdoor concert venue with an amphitheater – and plenty of space for that perfect festival experience.
Expect A-list headliners to grace the stage, plus other day-long activities perfect for the whole family.
Centrally located in Bowman, the solar eclipse festival is set to take place at this brand new spacious outdoor venue that opened earlier this year with a capacity of 30,000.
Colloquially named as "Yonder Field," the eventual layout for this new venue is shown here in a drawing.
When completed, Yonder Field will be the only one if its kind in the Palmetto State. Most things are in place, including a stage that, for the time being, goes up for events and comes back down after.
Yonderfield even allows overnight camping, so you can get there early to stake out your perfect spot for the family to view the big event.
Many of us can remember when both McCain and Shafer used to play the local venues around the Lowcountry when they were getting their start. Now, they're lending a hand to give this new venue in the Palmetto State a start.
This fun-for-the-family event includes all sorts of ways to enjoy the day while also enjoying the eclipse.
There's a Great Inflatable Race planned, where contenders will race through a giant inflated obstacle course. Note, the one shown above is NOT the one being used at the event.
To make things fair, adults will get their own races and children will get theirs as well.
Festival organizers say they have plenty of safety glasses.
But, just in case you may want to bring your own comfy viewing glasses. Safety is of tantamount importance - because you KNOW you'll want to see it all.
Festival organizers say that food and beverages will be available for purchase in the festival areas as well as the camping area. OKAY, maybe not this guy, but you can bet someone will have hot dogs and cold drinks.
Yonder Field is situated on more than 200 acres in the middle of the state and is right in the middle of the Path of Totality.
Make plans now to secure your spot at the festival. And since the kids are out of school on the 21st, you can even arrive the night before and camp over.
All events at this festival are family-oriented and are perfect for turning this rare two-and-a-half-minute solar event into a full-on family outing.
The Eclipse Festival in South Carolina takes place at Yonder Field, a 30,000 capacity event venue that opened earlier this year in Bowman. The family event begins the night before when the designated camping area opens at 4:00 p.m. If you choose to head there on Monday, August 21st, then the field opens for public access beginning at 10:00 a.m. Access Yonder Field by taking exit 159 from Interstate 26 and heading West. As you can imagine with so many fun things planned, neither the event, nor the overnight camping are free.
