The Little Known Beach In South Carolina You’ll Want To Visit Again And Again
South Carolina’s coastline is chock-full of hidden little beaches only the locals know about. You can choose to spend your day in the hustle and bustle of those other, more crowded, beaches – or you can pick from among the many lesser known hideaways for a more secluded beach experience.
The Sands beach may be the only one of its kind in South Carolina. That's because you can actually choose to park your car right on the beach at this unique destination. (There is also a parking lot — albeit, also sand.) At this fun little getaway, you can picnic right out of your car while you soak up some summer sun and swim, or search for shells or sharks teeth.
You'll also need them to explore Port Royal's picturesque boardwalk located adjacent to the beach. Explore the views from this 1/2-mile trail along Battery Creek. It's an excellent place to spot dolphins.
Grab a bottle of water and make your way to the top of the observation tower. Then, take your time breathing in the salt air while enjoying the long range, 360-degree views of the beautiful surrounding area.
You can park your car right on this quaint little beach in South Carolina. There is also a sandy parking lot, if you prefer to walk over to the beach. If parking on the beach, you should always be aware of the tide schedule, especially during a full moon, when high tides are even higher than normal. The Sands doesn't have running water, but portable restroom facilities are nearby.
