See Brookgreen Gardens In A Whole New Light For An Enchanting Evening Adventure In South Carolina This Summer
The spring and summer of 2020 has been filled with light shows in the skies over South Carolina. The many meteor showers and comets passing overhead have been spectacular this year – or maybe since we’re all staying home more, we’re actually making time to enjoy them. But there’s another must-see light show in the Palmetto State this summer. This one is on the ground and it is most certainly a jaw-dropping visual.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
For those who enjoy the tranquil beauty of Brookgreen Gardens by day, this summer's Southern Light exhibit from artist Bruce Munro is a marvelous way to see the gardens in a whole new light — literally.
Munro's large-scale light exhibits create entire outdoor 'rooms' of dazzling light. The Field of Light (shown here) fills an entire meadow within Brookgreen with more than 58,000 lights precisely arranged to create a large masterpiece.
With the many sculptures from American artist Anna Hyatt Huntington already featured throughout the lovely gardens, the light installations add another artistic element you won't find again at the gardens once the exhibition closes in mid-September.
We love how Brookgreen Gardens is always finding new ways for locals and visitors alike to experience the natural beauty of the gardens.
General admission tickets for this special Southern Light exhibition are $25 for adults and $15 for kids age 4-12. If you’re an annual member of Brookgreen Gardens, then you get the added bonus of a discount. Learn more about Southern Light from the official website for Brookgreen Gardens.
