South Carolina’s many wildlife management areas don’t get as much publicity as, say, our state parks and other outdoor attractions. But there are many in which to roam and reconnect with nature. Although most are open year-round, early spring is an ideal season to wander these little known spots – especially if they’re along the coast and you’re not fond of no-seeums.

Before the weather gets too warm, head over to McClellanville to explore the Santee Coastal Reserve WMA. This former gun club property is filled with a variety of things to see and do.
