Great news, South Carolinians! You no longer have to make sure your passport is current or drive more than 700 miles to see Niagara Falls. The Palmetto State has its own Niagara, and we can’t sing its praises often enough. The Niagara Falls of South Carolina is a not-to-be-missed beautiful sight that’s worthy of a trip to the Upstate if you’ve never seen it before.

What are the best waterfall hikes in South Carolina?

There are some beautiful waterfalls in this state, and some of the best waterfall hikes in South Carolina to see them include:

  • Isaqueena Falls Trail – A short hike of just over a quarter of a mile long, this trail leads to two lookout spots for viewing the impressive 100-foot tall falls. The hike begins at Tunnel Park in Walhalla where you can also see the incredible Stumpouse Tunnel.
  • Moonshine Falls Hike – A unique experience requiring permission to cross the private property of Asbury Hills Camp, but seeing one of only a few caves in the state and the experience of walking behind the waterfall makes it well worth the effort. And the hike itself is less than three miles long.
  • Raven Cliff Falls Trail – A moderately challenging hike of almost four miles out and back from the tallest waterfall in South Carolina.
