You’ll Never Want To Check Out Of The Most Unique Hotel In South Carolina
Imagine spending the night – or longer – on a Colonial-era plantation in South Carolina. And then imagine staying in the original kitchen house or schoolhouse – updated, of course, with luxurious amenities and accommodations.
The nostalgia and historic charm of this South Carolina bed and breakfast will lure you in, but the astounding beauty and location will make you never want to leave the most unique “hotel” in the Palmetto State.

Mansfield Plantation was established in the early 18th century. This antebellum (former) rice plantation encompasses nearly 1,000 acres along the beautiful Black River in Georgetown, South Carolina. Much of the 1.7 miles leading up to the gates are lined with stunning mature live oak trees. Before you even get to Mansfield you'll be overwhelmed with beauty.

Circa 1718, Mansfield is believed to be the only American rice plantation that has been saved from development.

The bed and breakfast at Mansfield includes several buildings. The main house is more than 4,000 square feet and was constructed between 1780 and 1830.

The house is huge and there's plenty of room for everyone at the massive dining room table each morning for a breakfast you won't soon forget.

Other historic and restored buildings on the property offer exceptional guest rooms too. In the 18th century the original owners built their nine sons a schoolhouse. Shown here, it's been restored and turned into guest rooms.

The North Guest house is the newest building on the property. It was built in the 1930s and has a gorgeous fan-shaped patio with a fire pit.

In Colonial days it was common practice for the kitchen house to be built separate from the main house, mainly to prevent everything from burning in the event of a fire. The Mansfield kitchen house has been restored and now includes guest rooms. In all, Mansfield Plantation has eleven stunning guest rooms.

This unusual and incredible bed and breakfast is perched on the shore of the beautiful Black River. You'll quickly get used to seeing all the Spanish Moss drooping from the large Oak trees.

Spend your time relaxing and wandering around the property. The old slave village is intact with seven cabins and the original slave chapel. It's open. You can go in if you wish.

Mansfield even has bikes you can use - for free. You'll be at peace exploring the backroads of this historic rice plantation.

Mansfield Plantation is rich in South Carolina history and offers you a chance to stay on an actual plantation in the original buildings from that working plantation. The historic charm and the beautiful and serene location will make this one "hotel" you'll never want to leave.
