There are some random and ridiculous laws still on the books in our state and in our cities. Some are almost laughable because they’re so out of date, although we’d like to say it’s never a good idea to laugh at the law. Others are weird, yet useful. Take a look at these 10 things that are actually illegal in South Carolina’s cities.
1. It's against the law to drive a motor vehicle on King Street.
...whelp...I guess it's "technically" not being driven...
There must be more to the law than the randomness of this simplified version.

3. It's against the law to drink on the campus of Furman University unless you are 60 or older.
The word is that Furman was a dry campus when this law was created. It had some older residents and those over 60 were exempt from the new law.

4. Horses are to wear pants at all times.
Ut oh. It looks like this little fella is "streaking."
5. It's illegal to dance in public.
So.. take that exotic belly dancing class behind closed doors, lady!

6. It's illegal to urinate in the waters of any park.
Apparently even the ducks have to get out of the water first. Or maybe not. You know we're just joking, right? About the ducks.
Ok. This one may seem dumb, but some people (ahem, tourists) may not exactly understand tides and high water marks. And while you'd THINK water lapping into your ears while you're asleep would wake someone. Not true. Especially if someone is sleeping off an adult beverage - or five.

9. Eating watermelons in the Magnolia Cemetery is forbidden.
Say what? We would love to know the origin of this one.

10. It's against the law and considered a "nuisance violation" if one has a large amount of trash in their car.
"Hi, Mom. Um...yeah. I'm gonna need you to come pick me up at the police station in Hilton Head. ... my friends left all their garbage in my car..."
