This Magical Hot Air Balloon Glow In South Carolina Will Light Up Your Night
In just a few short months, the most illuminating event of the season will take place just outside of Greenville and you’ll want to make plans to attend. Greenville’s Hot Air Balloon Festival and Victory Cup Polo Match are perfectly paired to deliver a fun-filled day of hot air balloon (tethered) rides, plus vendors, popup art booths, food, live music, a polo match known as The Victory Cup, and – weather permitting – two hot air balloon glows to light up the sky.
The two-day event takes place November 1-2, 2019 at Historic Hopkins Farm in Simpsonville.
At dawn and at 4 p.m. on Saturday (weather permitting) the balloonists will fire up their balloons creating an awesome night glow as the grounded balloons light up the early morning and then the night.
Seeing a hot air balloon up close is an impressive sight.
Hop into the basket and then feel the balloon lift up into the sky as ground crews keep a strong arm on the rope tethering it to the ground. You'll get a bird's eye view of the festival and soar above the crowds.
After the morning activities, the balloons take off for the better part of the day, only to return again at 4 p.m. for the start of the night glow.
Watch and cheer as this round of this national polo tournament unfolds before your eyes. Even if you're not a polo enthusiast, you'll enjoy watching this fast-moving sport.
Then, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday night, the hot air balloons return for a grounded night glow that will illuminate the evening festivities. It's a spectacular sight!
Greenville’s Hot Air Balloon Festival and Victory Cup Polo Match take place on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-2, 2019 at Historic Hopkins Farm in Simpsonville. Friday night tickets (without a tethered balloon ride) start at $5 for general admission. All-day Saturday tickets (without a tethered balloon ride) start at $10 and go up from there.
