If there is any one place in South Carolina that’s a little unconventional and still boasts a relatively boisterous subculture, it’s Folly Beach. And while it may be true that things have tamed considerably since ‘the good ole’ days, it’s also true that the hippie movement is still very much alive on this barrier island off the coast of our beloved Palmetto State. We can think of a number of towns in South Carolina that would balk at being labeled a hippie town, but not Folly Beach. Here, being hippie is as (un)trendy as it’s always been.
