In search of a fun place in the great outdoors that has something the whole family can enjoy? Then head to Simpsonville (about 30 minutes southeast of Greenville) to a city park that seems to have it all – including its own miniature railway that circles this sizable park for a ride even the big kids (that’s you) in the family will love.

Welcome aboard the Heritage Park Train, a scaled-down version of an actual steam engine train that used to pass through Simpsonville.

Tickets for those over the age of two are a mere $3 per ride. Kids under two ride for free with a paying adult. And what a ride it is!

Enjoy the gentle breeze on your face in the open-air passenger cars pulled by the steam engine of the Heritage Park Railroad.

Pass under a real railroad trestle and then circle back to cross on the trestle itself for an extra cool experience for both kids and adults.

The train is only open seasonally so you should check this link on the park's website for the most current information. The train runs weather permitting.

After your train ride(s), be sure to take the kids over to explore the cool playgrounds. And don't forget, Heritage Park also has a huge amphitheater.
