Make sure to get some Granny Smiths, preferred by many for making applesauce and for baking, because they don't collapse or disintegrate when roasting or baking with them.

They’re also said to be the best for snacking while trying to lose weight.

But if you don’t want to pick your own apples, MacGregor’s has a stand with some you can buy, along with many other items, including other fruits, vegetables, jams, jellies, pottery, and delicious homemade applesauce and cider.

If you want to keep some apples beyond the season, be sure to keep them in a cold, dark, damp storage location.
You can also buy pasture-raised Black Angus beef from Glassy Mountain View Farms, where the cattle are raised about a mile from the orchard.

When you finish picking your apples, head to Finn’s Cabin, also in Travelers Rest.
