You’ve heard us brag before about the fact that South Carolina has it all, from beautiful beaches to majestic mountains. We are truly lucky in that fact. We can be in the mountains one minute and then in two or three hours (depending on traffic) we can be at the beach. South Carolina’s upstate is home to the tail end of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We may not have a whole state full of those huge hills, but what we do have are absolutely breathtaking! Here are some majestic views of our lovely SC mountains and some of the mountains themselves:

Which mountains in SC are worth visiting?  

In a couple of words? All of them! The Blue Ridge Mountains are astonishingly beautiful and make for one of our favorite getaway destinations in South Carolina. We’re also fans of many of the best state parks in South Carolina, as they tend to be in mountainous areas and filled to the brim with all the natural splendor you could ever hope for. We love visiting Sassafras Mountain, which is the tallest mountain in South Carolina, and enjoying all the amazing hiking trails available there (among lots of other things).  

Which towns in the SC mountains should I visit?  

With plenty of beautiful mountains in South Carolina come lots of lovely mountain towns in South Carolina, and as luck would have it, we happen to have a few favorites that we love visiting. Head to Pickens County and check out the town of Easley, which was established in 1874. It’s home to some of the best shopping in South Carolina, as well as some of the best natural wonders in South Carolina there are, like incredible trails and waterfalls. In the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, you’ll find the town of Anderson, which was established as far back as the mid-1700s, and you’ll also find the town of Spartanburg, which is just about as old as Anderson is and just as full of history. 

How many mountains in SC are there?  

Amazingly, there are more than 200 named mountains in SC. Some of them are smaller, and some are larger, but they’re all stunningly beautiful and full of things to do, see, and enjoy. In the mountains of South Carolina, you’ll find some of the world’s best fishing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, and more. Life in South Carolina is splendid for those who love nature and the Great Outdoors. South Carolina is what’s great about the outdoors.
