This Beautiful 14-Acre Botanical Garden In Rhode Island Is A Sight To Be Seen
Now that we’ve strung together a few warm days in a row in Rhode Island, you’re probably itching to start spending more time outdoors. With the sun shining and the flowers starting to bloom, now is the time to visit all of those places you’ve been dreaming of fondly this winter. Wilcox Park is the perfect place to get started. Whether this botanical garden is an old favorite or brand new to you, the acres of natural beauty never disappoint.
If Misquamicut Beach is the crown jewel of Westerly, then Wilcox Park is the underrated hidden gem of the town. The 14-acre botanical garden is especially beautiful when it comes to life in the spring.
The park along with the Romanesque Westerly Town Library, and 84 buildings and houses surrounding the park, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Wilcox Park Historic District received this designation in 1973.
Statues and fountains create unique focal points of the grounds. Wilcox Park currently has a dwarf conifer garden, herb garden, a garden of the senses, and perennial garden on display.
Enjoy the expansive lush greenery alongside vibrant blooms. Each season the botanical garden changes so you'll want to visit this treasure again and again.
Find Wilcox Park at 71 ½ High St., Westerly, RI 02891. The garden is open to the public and is free of charge to explore.
Have you ever taken a stroll at the enchanting Wilcox Park? Don’t forget that Rhode Island’s Fairy Garden Festival starts this week and runs through April 28th. It’s a wonderful celebration to kick off spring! And also taking place in April is this colorful Daffodil Festival that will enchant you in every way.
