The Mysterious Rhode Island Road You Absolutely Must Drive At Least Once
Rhode Island is one of America’s oldest states… and with that honor comes a rich history loaded with folklore and creepy tales. Our state is home to haunted hotels, haunted mansions, spooky cemeteries… and even, it seems, a haunted road. There’s no denying that this one road in Cumberland has quite a bit of reported paranormal activity.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

With roots dating back to 1635, it's safe to say this spot has a lot of history.

The old monastery and the local public library are both known for their rumored paranormal activity.

This narrow road, which is mostly forested, is situated between Diamond Hill Road and Wrentham Road, leading to Diamond Hill Park.

People have spotted the spirits of young children standing on the side of the road, unexplained lights and sounds, and even some zombies.

More than a few Rhode Islanders have sworn they've seen this creepy creature on this long, winding road. And while this certainly could be people's imaginations playing tricks on them, the similarities in the accounts of the creature are pretty alarming.
Of course, it’s impossible to say whether or not this road is actually haunted, and how many of these accounts are mistakes or exaggerations. Still, considering these reports from locals have been happening for decades, it’s safe to say there might be something to those claims. We recommend all Rhode Islanders drive this road at least once (preferably at night) to decide for themselves.
