The Natural Swimming Hole At Olney Pond In Rhode Island Will Take You Back To The Good Ole Days
Rhode Island has some of the most beautiful ocean beaches in the country, earning us our nickname, the Ocean State. That being said, some of our smaller freshwater swimming holes are just as inviting on a hot summer day. In fact, Olney Pond happens to have its own swimming beach that rivals anything you’ll find by the sea.
The park is located in Lincoln, about four miles northwest of Pawtucket.
The pond is a 128-acre reservoir that makes up the heart of the park.
There are plenty of beachside picnic tables, lounging areas, restrooms, and even a bathhouse, allowing you to enjoy your day to the fullest. Some people say that being here feels like being in a scene from a 1960s beach flick.
Lifeguards are on duty during the summertime. But if you'd like to enjoy a more secluded swim, there are also plenty of places to do that away from the beach and crowds.
But the park, and the pond, will be open for day use as soon as possible. Just use good judgement and keep your distance from your fellow Rhode Islanders.
