Safety is often on the back of everyone’s mind when deciding where to move, or even when you’re just exploring new sites. We used Neighborhood Scout’s crime rates for Rhode Island to determine which parts of the state are the safest. Here are the top 10!

This Washington County town offers many peaceful country roads perfect for long drives. It is the 33rd largest community in the state and has a population of under 8,000.

The charming deepwater seaport town of Bristol has beautiful safe parks and many historic attractions. It also ranks over 90% below the national average crime rate.

South Kingstown is the largest town in the state and also one of the most beautiful. It's no wonder it becomes a major tourist attraction in the summer months. The town is also safer than 72% of US cities and towns.

This town located in northern Rhode Island has a crime rate of 68 (compared to the US average of over 293). It's also located just 20 minutes from Providence.

This town is located on the northern tip of the state bordering Massachusetts. With a crime rate of 9 per 1000 residents, Burrillville is a quaint and safe place.

With a population of under 5,000 people and beautiful scenery, Foster is a wonderfully safe small town.

Situated on Conanicut Island, the town of Jamestown boasts beautiful state parks, a stunning harbor and a fun downtown area. The violent crime rate fell far under that national average of 203.3 in 2013 when it was 18.1.

Bordering Connecticut is the charming town of Exeter. This small town has a population of under 7,000 people and ranks remarkably low in its annual crime rate.

Scituate has a crime rate of 5 per 1000 residents. This combined with its stunning reservoir and small town charm make it a great place to live.

Violent crimes are less than 1 per every 1000 residents in Glocester. The beautiful village of Chepachet, lovely lakes, and farmland can all be found in this "safest" town.
