Plan A Trip To North Kingstown, One Of Rhode Island’s Most Charming Historic Towns
Rhode Island was one of the original 13 colonies in America, meaning it’s brimming with history spanning centuries. And while we have plenty of charming historic towns here in the Ocean State, we can’t think of a better spot for history buffs than North Kingstown. This small town is big on preserving the past, and there’s evidence all over town.
North Kingstown is actually part of the Providence metropolitan area, but you'll feel like you're in a different world when you visit.
North Kingstown has a long list of historic districts and landmarks.
Named after Wickford in Essex, England, it features one of the largest collections of 18th century houses in the Northeast.
And as you can see, it is remarkably well cared for.
Located on the south side of the Annaquatucket River, it has two wood-frame mill buildings and a lot of old mill worker housing units.
It's also home to Casey Farm (pictured here), which dates all the way back to 1750.
You really can't help it when you visit this town.
