A change of scenery is always a good thing, particularly in a year like 2020. We’re anticipating another beautiful summer here in Rhode Island, and you certainly don’t even have to leave the state to have a great time. We recommend visiting Little Compton when you get a chance — this tiny town is a total treasure.
With a population of just 3,500 people, it's a small town by any definition.
Little Compton originally belonged to the Sakonnet. The first European settlers were Englishmen from Duxbury, Massachusetts who wanted to expand their land holdings. In 1682, the town was incorporated by the Plymouth Colony and renamed Little Compton. And although the town now has many modern amenities, visiting still feels like going back in time.
