There’s really no better way to experience Rhode Island’s diverse natural beauty than by enjoying a challenging hike or a relaxing nature walk. We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. This refuge is one of five national wildlife refuges in Rhody, and it's quiet and peaceful in the winter. And since there's a small network of hiking trails that intertwine throughout the property, you can choose between a short brisk nature walk and a lengthy trek.

In the summer, you'll see all kinds of cyclists and joggers on this 16.5-mile path. But in the winter, it's a nice, uncrowded place to take a winter stroll. But if we get any late winter snow, you might have to break out the cross country skis.

This 4.7-mile loop is delightful in any season. While parts of the trail may be muddy in March, you'll still avoid the spring and summer crowds.

This beautiful 3.3-mile loop takes you past a pond, a small waterfall, and a soothing stream. It's the perfect place to welcome spring.

Goddard Memorial has several trails, but the 1.4-mile Red Trail is particularly delightful. You'll see both lush green woods and sandy beaches on this short nature walk.

Even if you've enjoyed Rhode Island's most iconic stroll before, we highly recommend making it one of your 12 trails this year. This 3.5-mile trail really does have some of the best views in New England.

This summer, head to Narragansett and hike this iconic 2.3-mile loop. While the legendary lighthouse is the highlight, you'll also experience some absolutely breathtaking ocean views.

Block Island stays busy in the summertime, but that's because it's absolutely gorgeous. Pick a weekday morning to hike the 3.5-mile Clay Head Trail, which features beautiful wildflowers and sweeping views from the bluffs.

There are three trails leading to the Bowdish Reservoir that vary in length and difficulty, although none of them are extremely challenging. This is the perfect place to come when the leaves are beginning to turn.

Lincoln Woods State Park one of Blackstone Valley’s greatest treasures. And there's no better time than the fall to enjoy this 3-mile loop.

This easy, pleasant 2.4-mile loop makes for a beautiful hike in any season. But if you catch it on a crisp sunny day near the end of autumn, it's absolutely perfect.

Winter's arrival can really bring on the cabin fever, especially if you have little ones. Luckily, this easy 1-mile loop is easy enough for the entire family to enjoy and accessible year-round.
Enjoy each of these hikes and you’ll be feeling thankful to live in Rhode Island (and especially fit) by the end of 2021.
