Spring’s warmer days mean a whole lot of goodness and fun. Now that we’ve bid farewell to summer, we’re ready to spend as much time outdoors as we can; a Rhode Island state park is a good option for a day outdoors. An even better option is marking your calendar for a spring festival in Rhode Island. The Spring Festival at Rocky Point State Park is one of our favorites in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Rhode Island In Spring

What are some things to do in Rhode Island in spring?
From the delightful spring festival at Rocky Point to quiet wildflower hikes in the Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, spring is a time to get outside and enjoy nature. Here are a few things to do in Rhode Island in spring that we think you'll enjoy as much as we do:

  • Daffodil Days, Newport, RI: Start off your spring with a good old-fashioned musket salute and the fresh scent of thousands of daffodils blooming in the sun. Nothing says spring in RI better than Daffodil Days - it's one of our favorite events because it means the cold winter months are but a memory and the earth of spring is right around the corner. In early April, head to the Clarke Cooke House for live music, fun activities, and the Annual Daffy Dog Paw-rade. Then, in mid-April Restaurant Week begins with lots of “Daffy Deals” and good food. And toward the end of the month, Green Animals Topiary Garden has special events too.
  • Wicked Tulips Flower Farm, Exeter, RI: Another one of our favorite places to visit in Rhode Island for a little spring pick-me-up is the Wicked Tulips Flower Farm. Rhode Island's climate is perfect for tulips, and you are in for a treat when you visit this Wicked farm. Imagine fields of brightly-colored tulips as far as the eye can see rising to the sun like dancing pockets of color. When the tulips bloom in late April or early May, you can come to the farm to pick your own beautiful bouquets.
  • Ryan Park Loop Trail, North Kingston, RI: When that first unseasonably warm day arrives in the first part of spring we like to head outdoors and look for the first wildflowers of the season. A great place to do that is in Ryan Park. This 2.1-mile loop trail is just the right size for a stroll in nature. Along this trail you'll find a stream crossing over a wooden footbridge, spring peepers warming up their voices, the lovely Belleville Pond and Secret Lake, and of course, the feature of our spring hike - wildflowers!

There are plenty more places to explore in Rhode Island when spring weather starts to warm up. Some of our favorite hiking trails take us to epic scenic views, pristine lakes, quiet beaches, and charming city parks.
