Few People Know This Rhode Island Diner Is A Registered Historic Place
Who doesn’t love a classic diner? There’s something about sitting down at one of those padded stools and ordering up a plate of bacon and eggs that is so incredibly nostalgic and comforting. There are plenty of fantastic old-school diners in Rhode Island, but did you know that here in the Ocean State we actually have a diner on the National Register of Historic Places?

Modern Diner is one of only two Sterling Streamliner diners still operating in the world. It was opened in 1940 at 13 Dexter Street in Pawtucket, and was moved to its current location in 1984.
But don't think for a second that they're resting on their laurels - this spot continues to come up with creative and delicious dishes. Their custard French toast even won best diner dish in America on the Food Network!
When you walk in the door, you'll see a wall covered with 30 or more specials - this is a place to keep coming back to, because the menu is constantly changing!
