The Ultimate Rhode Island Hidden Gem Road Trip Will Take You To 6 Incredible Little-Known Spots In The State
Rhode Island may be a small state, but it has a surprising number of hidden gems. And while it isn’t possible to explore them all in a single day, you can certainly make a fantastic day trip out of checking out some of the best. We put together a nice, scenic route that will leave you feeling like you’ve just had a vacation — but you’ll be home in time for dinner.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Start your day in Bristol, which is known as the most criminally overlooked town in Rhode Island. Grab a latte and some breakfast from Empire Tea & Coffee and enjoy window shopping on Main Street.

Drive to Providence and check out Neutaconkanut Park, a hidden gem that happens to be located right in the middle of our state's largest city. The park spans 88 acres and offers some of the best views of Providence.

This quiet, peaceful beachfront park is a local favorite -- but the tourists tend to skip it. There are three miles of walking and biking paths here, perfect for stretching your legs.

Also located in Warwick, Goddard State Park is a beautiful local gathering spot. There are spacious lawns, fields, forested areas, and a sandy beach.

Located in the southeasternmost part of the town of Middletown, this wildlife refuge spans 242 acres. It's home to over 150 bird species, making it a bird watcher's paradise.

End your journey where you began, in Bristol -- but this time, check out Colt State Park. It just so happens to be the perfect place to watch a sunset.
