The seasons are shifting here in our beautiful state, and if you want to experience it first hand, you need to try this fall hike in Rhode Island! This loop trail is a stunning way to spend an autumn afternoon. Easy enough for everyone in the family to try, you’ll want to put this on your fall to do list!

A short drive from Providence, Pawtucket, and Cumberland, is the lovely Lincoln Woods State Park.

This park covers 627 acres of stunning woods that circle around Olney Pond, with tons of things to see and do. There’s camping, trout fishing, and even horse back riding!
There are also many trails in the area, including ones that you can cycle or horse back ride down.

The Lincoln Woods Trail is a popular trail in the area due to its beautiful scenery and ease of hiking. The entire trail is only 3.1 miles long.
It’s a loop trail that brings you out to Olney Pond.

This trail is very easy to do, and the elevation gain throughout the entirety of the trail is only 298 feet. It usually takes about an hour and a half to complete the trail at an easy pace.
The area is known for the glacial boulders you’ll see along your walk.

The stony terrain provides wonderful landscape elements, and interesting focal pieces. You may even see people "bouldering," or rock climbing these interesting boulders. Make sure to watch your step on certain parts of the trail so you don’t trip over any rocks.
You’ll find stunning views of the foliage all along the trail.

Pack a picnic and spend awhile when you reach the pond. This is a lovely day outing that allows you to truly immerse yourself in the changing of the seasons!
There are vehicle parking fees if you’re interested in hiking this beautiful trail.

Resident rates start at $3.00 per car and non-resident rates start at $6.00. If you’re interested in camping, or renting a pavilion, there are other fees for those as well.
This wonderful trail is open year round.
