A Rhode Island nature preserve sits not far from the hustle and bustle of big city life with Providence just 15 minutes away. However, it offers all of the tranquility of the middle of nowhere, and the best way to embrace that quiet is on this picturesque trail in Rhode Island.

Lime Rock Nature Preserve, formally Aust Family Preserve at Lime Rock, in Lincoln promises the quiet of nature and beautiful natural scenery.

When you first arrive at the 130-acre nature preserve, you'll find a tiny parking lot that fits just three cars with six spaces available along Wilbur Road.

Tallying 1.8 miles, the Lime Rock Nature Preserve Trail scores an easy rating and usually takes under an hour to complete, depending on how fast you walk.

Bring your pup (as long as he's leashed) on this dog-friendly trail that only allows hikers. Bikes and horses are not permitted in the nature preserve.
