Rhode Island offers gorgeous hiking trails that vary in level of difficulty. While some require a little more effort and the right equipment, others can be enjoyed year round in any type of footwear. Whether you’re looking for a cliffside walking path, or a short hike through the forest in the north, there are wonderful options all around. Here are 10 easy hikes to enjoy on your next afternoon in nature.

Beavertail State Park offers 4 acres of gorgeous rocky landscape and fields. There are several short and stunning walking trails to enjoy beautiful cliffside views of the Atlantic. Find it at the end of Beavertail Road in Jamestown on Conanicut Island.

This 3.5 mile trail is an easy walking path through a historic cemetery and beautiful fields in Tiverton. It is also connected to two additional trails, giving you the option to extend your hiking adventures! Find it off Route 77.

Found at 96 Wilbur Road, the trail at Lime Rock Preserve is a 1.8 loop with stunning scenic views of the former reservoir. It's also a perfect hike to enjoy the changing seasons with many rare plants and a beautiful backdrop of lush trees.

Found in the town of Charlestown of Route 216 is this massive state recreational area. They offer hiking trails of varying skill levels and is also a great place to go fishing and camping.

This amazing hike is just around 5 miles and is found in the northern part of the state. The trail momentarily passes through sections of both Connecticut and Massachusetts, as the name suggests and is as fun as it is lovely! Find it off Buck Hill Road in Pascoag heading towards Connecticut.

This 3.4 mile trail is great for all skill levels and features a stunning lake. It is particularly beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing. Find the park at 2 Manchester Print Works Road.

Formerly owned by industrialist Samuel P. Colt, this park consists of 864 acres of beautiful land with various trails to choose from. The lovely views of the water along many of the hikes are such a uniquely Rhode Island experience. Visit Colt State Park off Route 114 in Bristol.

The Ocean View Loop is without a doubt one of the most beautiful trails found in the state. Offering stunning views of the Atlantic, this loop is just 1.5 miles in length and definitely beginner friendly. Hikers also have the option of extending their trek by adding on the connected trail in the refuge. Find it at 769 Sachuest Point Road.

The 3.5 mile path along the cliffs found in Newport is simply out of this world. This trail is definitely crowded with tourists in the summer months, but for good reason! It might be one of the most memorable walks you'll take in the state, and offers dozens of magical photo opportunities. The cliff walk runs from Memorial Boulevard to Bellevue Avenue.

Easy to moderate hiking trails are scattered across this 860 acre property. Explore amazing old forest land, rock cairns, and dazzling brooks at Parker Woodlands at 1670 Maple Valley Road.
