Enjoy An Iconic Coffee Cabinet At Delekta’s Pharmacy In Rhode Island
If you were born and raised in Rhode Island, the word “cabinet” likely conjures up a different image than it does for most. To the majority of Americans, a cabinet is a place to store things. To a Rhode Islander, it’s a delicious ice cream based espresso drink that’s absolutely addictive. And there’s no better place to get one than Delekta’s Pharmacy.

It originally opened in 1858 as as Bennett's, then it became DeWolfe's in the 1920s. The Delekta family bought it two decades later, and the rest is history.

They faced tough competition from the big chain pharmacies and insurance companies refusal to reimburse them, so they decided it just wasn't profitable to continue.

The store sells locally made gift items, specialty foods, locations, and accessories (and so much more).

It only adds to the nostalgic ambiance.

You can always have a float or a milkshake, but it's the coffee cabinet that really put this place on the map.

Whatever they're doing here, they're doing right -- the family says they make 200 - 300 coffee cabinets per week in the summertime.

Take a date, take your little ones, or just treat yourself to a cold coffee cabinet while you shop.

Tuesday - Friday hours are 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday hours are 10 - 4, and they're open from 11 - 3 on Sundays.
When was the last time you enjoyed a coffee cabinet from Delekta Pharmacy? It’s one of the many things to love about life in Warren.
