Rhode Island’s Neutaconkanut Hill Park Loop Is One Of The Best Hiking Summits For Beautiful Views
We’re no strangers to beautiful scenery here in Rhode Island. Sometimes we drink it in on a leisurely drive or by taking a stroll on a sandy beach. Other times, we feel like connecting with nature, which is best done on a relaxing hike. For some of the best views in the state, follow this short, sweet, and incredibly awe-inspiring trail in Rhode Island. You don’t want to forget your camera for this one.
A wander along the Neutaconkanut Hill Park Loop Trail in Providence promises sweeping views, a few surprises, and plenty of lush green in the warmer months. This, however, is a hike worth following in any season.
If you're visiting during the winter and there's snow on the ground, bring your sled. The park is home to an epic sledding hill.
Start your adventure by parking in the lot near the baseball field. Nearby you'll find the trailhead as well as a map, so you can get an idea of the layout of the park.
If you have enough time, explore the park a bit after your hike.
The 1.7-mile trail scores an easy rating from hikers. However, be prepared to climb some hills. (The hills, after all, are what lead to those sensational views of Providence.)
Along the way, you might pass a few surprises - like the remains of an old vehicle, partially covered in foliage. While you're close to the city, you'll feel a million miles away from it all.
You might even be lucky enough to cross paths with local wildlife - turkeys and deer, for example. If you're hiking during the warmer months, wear bug spray (and bring it along) as the trail can get really buggy.
