The first Autumnfest was held on Columbus Day weekend in 1977 and has continued ever since as a weekend festival held annually in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. When the live entertainment commences on Friday night and the beer tent opens, it marks the start of Autumnfest! This little taste will leave you wanting to come back for more the next day. The main event starts Saturday, October 7th at 10:00 in the morning and runs until Sunday night. There is always an exciting assortment of activities to do and entertainment to watch.
At Food Row you can find traditional carnival food plus local favorites- eggrolls from Chan's, sundaes from the Ice Cream Machine, and of course Woonsocket's best kept secret -
the dynamite sandwich.
Autumnfest, and maybe even all of Woonsocket, is best known for its several hours long, televised Autumnfest Parade! The parade starts at 9:30 on Monday morning. It begins at the Diamond Hill Plaza located at 2000 Diamond Hill Road and marches to the end at the WWII Memorial Park on Social Street in Woonsocket.
