Stay The Night In A 1970s Airstream Trailer At Melville Ponds Campground In Rhode Island
If you love the outdoors but you’re less than enthused about roughing it, glamping is the perfect solution. You can enjoy all the benefits of being out in nature without having to forego the comforts of home. For a truly unique glamping experience in Rhode Island, book your stay in a 1970s Airstream trailer at Melville Ponds Campground.
Located on Aquidneck Island, Melville Ponds Campground has scenic wooded campsites in a beautiful natural setting. The campground is only five miles away from Newport, Rhode Island, and there are plenty of activities in the vicinity for the whole family to enjoy. Hikers will love the five miles of trails at the campground, which lead down toward Narragansett Bay.
Melville Ponds has two vintage Airstream trailers available for rental through Airbnb – the 1977 Land Yacht, and the 1972 Ambassador. Both trailers have been fully renovated, and their vintage exteriors belie the modern-day luxuries within.
Step inside, and you’ll be greeted with all the comforts you could want for your glamping adventure, from a television to a small bathroom complete with working shower. No need to tromp through the rain to get to the campground facilities!
Each Airstream has its own kitchen with an induction cooktop, refrigerator, and microwave, so you can prepare meals easily, no matter the weather outside. Of course, if you’d like, you can still cook over the campfire for a more rustic experience. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table for your use.
Both Airstreams also have their own couches with tray tables, where you can eat a meal, sip your coffee, or just relax with a book. Sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature right outside your window.
At the end of a fun-filled day spent exploring the great outdoors, you’ll get to sleep in a comfortable, real bed – not an inflatable air mattress or barely-there sleeping bag. The 1972 Ambassador has a queen-sized bed, whereas the 1977 Land Yacht has two twin beds.
The Airbnb listing for the 1972 Ambassador can be found here, and the 1977 Land Yacht is listed here. For more information about Melville Ponds Campground, visit its website or Facebook page.
