The Chef Cafe
When The Chef Cafe opened in 1943, it quickly became a popular spot for locals, and that stands true today. If you stop by on a weekend, chances are you’ll have to wait for a seat – but luckily there’s still enough “Chef Blend” coffee for everyone, which is roasted and blended locally at Radina’s in Aggieville.
Unfortunately, the Chef was closed 1986, and didn’t reopen until 2008, when a group of friends decided to bring the Chef back – creating a comfortable, modern family cafe with an eclectic menu, with everything from frittatas to peanut butter + jelly pancakes to Manmosas (PBR + a splash of orange juice). The Riley County Historical Society even provided the original neon sign to hang outside.
