Big Texan Steak Ranch

The Big Texan is a Route 66 legend. They’ve met Leno, been on Letterman, and even Conan has sung praises to this famous steakhouse. They opened their doors in 1960 to nearly instant success, and their class roadside sign has become an iconic figure of famous Route 66. The Big Texan ups the ante with a steak challenge unlike any other. In what was once a friendly local contest between hungry cowboys eager to compete, owner Bob RJ Lee laid down the law: the wrangler that could eat the most 1 lb. steaks in an hour would win big buckaroos. The champion consumed a whopping 4 and a half pounds of meat, and thus the legendary 72 oz. Steak Challenge was born. The Big Texan keeps pretty amazing (and detailed!) records of their Steak Champions…will you made the list?
