Best Winter Town In Pennsylvania

October 24, 2019

What other places are the most festive towns in Pennsylvania?

If you’re searching for places to visit in winter in Pennsylvania, you’ve got an abundance of choices. Plan a visit to Wellsboro, for example, a winter wonderland town in Pennsylvania with wreaths decorating each of the glowing streetlight posts. Wellsboro also hosts the annual Dickens Festival and Christmas on Main Street, making it one of the most festive towns in Pennsylvania.

The fairy tale village of Eagles Mere also makes a picture-perfect destination in Pennsylvania, especially during the winter. Home to just 150 year-round residents, the village boasts a spectacular toboggan ride (when the winter weather permits) that promises thrills and chills. You can also visit such popular destination as Eagles Mere Air Museum and Eagles Mere Country Store.

What are the best things to do for Christmas in Pennsylvania?

Do you have a favorite winter wonderland town in Pennsylvania? If you love the annual Christmas movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life,” plan a visit to the charming town of Indiana, which transforms into a real-life Bedford Falls every holiday season. It also happens to be Jimmy Stewart’s (George Bailey) hometown.

Enjoy the winter landscape on a Christmas train ride, too. Several companies – including New Hope Railroad and Colebrookdale Railroad – host charming Christmas train adventures that are fun for the whole family.

Then, again, if you prefer to do the driving, set the GPS for Hershey, one of the most festive towns in Pennsylvania. Drive through Hershey’s Sweet Lights, the largest drive-thru light show in Pennsylvania, before visiting Hersheypark for its popular Christmas Candyland, which boasts more than four million twinkling lights.

What kinds of activities can I do in winter in Pennsylvania?

Winter in Pennsylvania is jam-packed with things to do, especially if you like spending time outdoors.  Go for a winter hike, for example, at Moraine State Park. If you like winter sports, you’re in for a huge treat. Plan a visit to Eagles Mere for a ride or two (or three) down the Eagles Mere Toboggan. (The toboggan only runs if winter conditions allow.) Glide around the ice skating rink at Blue Cross RiverRink’s Winterfest in Philadelphia, or go snow tubing on Camelback Mountain in Tannersville.

Not everyone likes spending time outdoors in the winter, however. The good news is you’ll find an abundance of fun activities indoors, too. How about a night or a weekend at Kalahari Indoor Waterpark, the largest waterpark in the United States? Or, go for a relaxing afternoon of shopping at the charming indoor village Street of Shops.
