Route 6 Practically Runs Through All Of Pennsylvania And It’s A Beautiful Drive
With its rolling hills and winding roads, Pennsylvania was pretty much made for scenic drives, whether we want to embark on a short jaunt or we prefer to travel hundreds of miles. One of the most beautiful scenic drives in Pennsylvania is arguably along Route 6. Whether you drive part or all of Route 6 in Pennsylvania, you’re about to set off on a one-of-a-kind adventure.
Some of the most beloved attractions sit along Route 6 in Pennsylvania, an epic 400-mile scenic drive that starts in Crawford County near the Ohio border and ends near the New York border.
The drive through Pennsylvania, however, is just a small portion of the larger Route 6, which spans 3,199 miles from Provincetown, Massachusetts to Bishop, California.
If you’re starting out from the Ohio side of Route 6, one of the first attractions you’ll come to, at Mile Marker 7, is Pymatuning State Park. Even if you don’t have a lot of time, pull over to feed the ducks.
What’s so unique about feeding the ducks? Well, they stand on the backs of the many carp that reside in the Linesville Spillway. You must purchase food at the park.
Route 6 passes a slew of familiar attractions, including Splash Lagoon Indoor Waterpark Resort, Kinzua Skywalk (where you can stand on a glass floor), and Cherry Springs State Park. The state park is best known for having the darkest skies on the Eastern Seaboard. It’s popular with stargazers.
As you approach Mile Marker 221, prepare to pull over at Leonard Harrison State Park or Colton Point State Park, both of which offer stunning views of Pine Creek Gorge (the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania).
This scenic Pennsylvania drive winds past the Susquehanna River and through Historic Honesdale. With all of the must-visit destinations along the route, you might want to turn your scenic drive into an epic road trip.
