Now you can spend the day outdoors on the river then retreat to your tepee for a relaxing night at this unique campground near Pittsburgh.
Nestled between the Great Allegheny Passage and the Youghiogheny River, the Uniontown KOA sits in an idyllic spot for outdoor lovers, hikers, and bikers.
But, first you have to decide where you'll stay on the sprawling grounds of the campground. Park your RV, for example, in one of the spots overlooking the shimmering river.
Of course, you can also reserve one of the campground's tepees. Each tepee, which sleeps up to four campers, features two single beds and a full futon.
Now comes the good news/bad news. Good news, the site features water and electricity. Bad news (depending on how you look at it), the tepees are not 100 percent rainproof.
Settle in to your digs before exploring the campground. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, slip down the winding slide into the pool. Or, go boating in the river.
The campground also offers a slew of amenities, including a snack bar, a picnic pavilion, a dog park, cable, and WiFi. Rent pedal carts; watch the kids play at the playground, or hang out in the game room.
And, consider planning a visit during one of the themed weekends. Upcoming themes include, for example, a Halloween celebration the weekend of October 12-14, 2018.
