You Know You’re From Pittsburgh When You Make These 9 New Year’s Resolutions
Time is running out on 2017. Before we know it, we’ll be ringing in 2018. What are your resolutions for the New Year? Or, do you prefer to avoid all of that? Let’s have a little bit of fun today and look at nine of the New Year’s resolutions that would certainly give away your status as a yinzer.
1. Try new foods and…
After all, we have so many amazing options to try – from restaurants to food trucks and everything in between.
2. Shop at more local mom and pop shops/restaurants.
Local businesses make Pittsburgh go round. We’ll get out and discover the little shops that sell locally made products, food, and other goodies.
3. Run the Pittsburgh Marathon and…
We will at least try to get in shape by training for it. And, if we can’t run it, we’ll head down and cheer on the runners.
4. Go to all those special events that make Pittsburgh so great.
Pittsburgh plays host to a slew of awesome events each year – from First Night to the Three Rivers Regatta in August. How many times have you promised you would go to one or more of those events in the New Year but somehow never made it?
5. Won’t stop before the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and…
Okay, okay, we’ll stop
only if there’s a backup or other cars are stopped in front of us. We will not be that driver who starts to slow down just because we approach the oh-so-scary tunnel (and the resident tunnel monster).
6. If others do, we will just take a deep breath and let it go.
We’ve all been there. Driving down the parkway at the speed limit then BAM! Here comes the tunnel and we have to start braking. (Of course, when we come out of the other side of the tunnel, we see the traffic is moving smoothly.) This year maybe we’ll try to just take a deep breath and let it go?
7. Work on becoming more courteous drivers and…
That’s a fair one, isn’t it? After all, Pittsburgh earned the top spot on the List of the Rudest Drivers in the country in 2017. Maybe together we can make it off that list in 2018.
8. Let at least another car merge into our lane and adhere to the Pittsburgh left.
C’mon, let’s all work together to make our way onto the best drivers in the country list in 2018. A good way to do that? Maybe we can vow to allow at least one car to merge in front of us? And, to perhaps keep with the tradition of the Pittsburgh left?
9. Keep lending a helping hand.
That’s what makes Pittsburgh so amazing. Yinzers are so kind-hearted, always ready with a helping hand when someone is in need. That’s something that’s sure to carry on into 2018 and far into the future.
Okay, fellow Pittsburghers, what are your New Year’s resolutions for 2018? Share below. Will you be eating the traditional
New Year’s Day meal this year?
