11 Things A True Pittsburgher Can Honestly Say They've Never Done

We, Pittsburghers, have all done some things that are just uniquely Pittsburgh. Like slowing down before the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. Taking our Terrible Towel with us when we go out of town. And, eating fries on our sandwiches. But, there are some things we also collectively haven’t done. Here are 11 things a true Pittsburgher can honestly say they’ve never done.
Pshaw. What’s a little rain? Rain doesn’t scare us. We’ll sit out the rain delays at PNC Park. Wait for the rain to slow down to ride again at Kennywood. And, continue our picnic at the park under cover.
Same goes for snow. Sure, we sometimes might get into a panic about impending snow storms. (You know, rushing to the store to pick up the obligatory bread, milk, and toilet paper.) But, the city literally has to tell us to stay off the roads, no matter how bad they get. (You’ll also find some Pittsburghers wearing shorts, no matter how much snow sits on the ground.)

We’re not going to hide in the air conditioning on those sweltering summer days. Nope. We don’t run from heat and humidity. Instead, we just go on with our fun outdoors.

Pittsburgh’s Steeler country. Always has been, always will be. So, don’t expect a Pittsburgher to cheer for any other team than the Stillers.
The Pens certainly have had winning years recently; the Pirates, not so much. Still, most Pittsburghers can (likely) honestly say they’ve never root, root, rooted for anyone but the home team.

We call it pop. Saying soda just screams "out-of-towner."
Live in Pittsburgh and top our fries, burgers, and hot dogs with anything other than Heinz ketchup or mustard? It just doesn’t happen.

Pittsburghers are good people who always come to the aid of those in need.
Along with being genuinely good people, Pittsburghers are downright friendly. Sit down at a bench at the mall or in the park as strangers and leave as friends.
Okay, so maybe we do get annoyed with Pittsburgh from time-to-time. But, that doesn’t mean we don’t love our hometown and we will insult it in front of others, especially out-of-towners.
