You Don’t Want To Miss This Gorgeous Lantern Festival In Pittsburgh This Year
Release your worries and send your dreams and wishes soaring into the nighttime sky, along with hundreds of other Pittsburghers, this summer. This spectacular Lantern Festival in Pittsburgh promises a day of entertainment and good food and an evening of hope and sheer beauty.
Join thousands of other Pittsburghers in illuminating the nighttime sky at the breathtaking Lantern Fest, slated for July 8, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Motor Speedway.
Arrive at this memorable summer festival early to enjoy live entertainment, scrumptious food from food trucks (no outside food allowed), and to prepare your lantern for its ascent into the summer sky.
Decorate your lantern with a list, a drawing, anything that illustrates your dreams and hope for the future. The lantern, after all, is a symbol of good fortune and is included in the cost of your ticket.
Children between four and 12 will receive a small gift with their ticket but will not get a lantern. However, you can purchase extra lanterns at the festival.
Sit around a fire and roast marshmallows for s'mores, summer's favorite treat, as you relax and chat with fellow Pittsburghers. The afternoon's activities also include face painting, balloon artistry, and a stage show.
Feel the buzz of excitement growing as the sun begins its descent toward night and as you and your fellow festival goers prepare to release your lanterns.
Don't forget to bring a cozy blanket or your favorite lawn chair to lounge on during the day's festivities.
Following the highlight of the evening, the release of the lanterns, a clean-up crew will remove "90 percent" of the lanterns that were launched. The lanterns, however, are "100 percent biodegradable."
