The Iconic Kennywood In Pittsburgh Is Opening Soon, And Here's What You Need To Know

Start counting down the days! Summer might have started off with a bit of a whimper, because of the pandemic, but one of our favorite summer attractions is getting ready to open its gates for the first time this season. That’s right. Kennywood in Pittsburgh will soon welcome guests again, but there are a few things of which you’ll need to be aware before you head to the park.
For decades, Kennywood’s Opening Day has signified the unofficial start of summer fun. The 2020 season is set to start a bit later than normal on July 11, 2020.
Because of the pandemic, a trip to Kennywood is going to be a bit different this season. Unlike seasons past, we can’t just walk up to the gate on an impromptu visit to the amusement park.
Rather, in addition to purchasing a ticket or using your season pass, you’ll also have to register in advance for the date you’d like to visit. If that date is not listed on the calendar, expected attendance for the day has already reached capacity.
When you arrive at the park on your reserved day, you must have your temperature taken. Any guests with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or above will not be allowed to enter the park.
Don’t forget to bring a mask with you. Everyone is required to wear a mask, except kids younger than three and guests with medical conditions that preclude them from being able to wear a mask.
Kennywood requires all guests to adhere to social distancing guidelines by keeping six feet from other guests. If you’re at the park with your family of four, your entire family is then expected to stay six feet from other guests.
Management of the amusement park is encouraging all guests to frequently wash their hands. You’ll find newly-installed hand sanitizer stations throughout the park to make that easy.
