10 Things All Pittsburghers Have In The Trunk Of Their Car At All Times
Okay, Pittsburghers, when’s the last time you looked in the trunk of your car? What do you keep in there? We all probably keep a lot more than we need in our trunks. But, there are some things that all Pittsburghers typically have in their car trunks — or somewhere in their car — at all times. Here are 10 of them:
1. Ice Scraper
Virtual hands up! How many of us leave our ice scrapers in the car all year around? Driving without an ice scraper —
especially in the winter — is a risk you just don't want to take.
The ice scraper works great for removing that pesky ice, but what about the snow that's got you blocked in your parking spot at work or somewhere else? Only that shovel in your trunk will save you!
3. Plastic Chair
You've worked hard to dig your car out of the snow. Now you just have to pull that plastic chair out of your trunk and claim your space. Having that chair in your trunk during the winter months can come in pretty handy.
4. Terrible Towel
Who knows when an impromptu pep rally will break out?
5. Bottled Water
Sometimes we just need a drink. And, it's usually at those times that we can't find anywhere to stop to get one. That's why we keep extra bottled water in the trunk.
6. Windshield Wiper Fluid
The windshield wipers sure get a workout — especially during the winter months and when the pollen is heavy. The last thing any of us wants is to get stuck with a dirty windshield and nowhere to stop to pick up more fluid. Best to just keep it in the trunk.
7. Extra Clothes
Expect the unexpected is a pretty good motto for Pittsburgh's weather. Having extra clothes — and a hat, gloves, including a scarf —in the trunk is a prerequisite if you live in the Burgh.
It's one of those lessons we all learn. We forget to bring the sunscreen so we have to stop at a store to pick some up. That usually happens when we're running late, right? Keeping sunscreen in the trunk means one less thing we have to worry about.
9. Extra Snacks – just in case!
You never know when you're going to get stuck in traffic, especially in Pittsburgh. Keeping a generous supply of snacks in the trunk could mean the difference between a pleasant wait and an agonizing one.
10. Plenty of Change
Change in the car is a definite necessity. What if you don't have EZ Pass and no other cash for tolls on the Turnpike? What if you park at a spot with one of those vintage meters that still take change?
