You Don't Want To Miss The Great American Banana Split Celebration Near Pittsburgh

What’s better than digging into a banana split on a late summer day? Probably not too much, right? Well, how about eating that scrumptiously classic banana split at an epic banana split celebration near Pittsburgh? That’s right, Pittsburghers, clear your calendars! The Great American Banana Split Celebration kicks off this weekend in Latrobe. And, you definitely don’t want to miss it.

Mark your calendars, ice cream lovers! The Great American Banana Split Celebration takes Latrobe by storm August 24-26, 2018.

Of course, you'll find no better way to kick off the celebration than with a classic banana split.

So, stop by Latrobe's Valley Dairy Restaurant, starting at 6 a.m. on each festival day, to indulge in a classically scrumptious banana split.

Or, perhaps you're up for a bit of competition? Then, sign up for the 5K Banana Run at Latrobe Memorial Stadium. The race is set for Saturday at 9 a.m. (Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.)

And, if you *love* banana cream pie, enter the pie eating contest. On your mark, get set...the contest starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Dollar Bank Stage.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the weekend's many activities, including the Friday Night Pep Rally, a car cruise, and a Banana Band Mini Parade.

And, find plenty to do with the kiddos, including watching yo yo and martial arts demonstrations. (Even better? Saturday night caps off with a spectacular fireworks show.)

The weekend will also feature plenty of live performances by such entertainers as the Laurel Valley Academy of Dance, Lovebettie, and Hayley Dailey. Producers from the Netflix show *Mindhunter* will also be on hand casting for extras.
