Frank’s Star Lunch Near Pittsburgh Has Been Serving Hot Dogs For Decades
What does nostalgia taste like? Well, it probably depends upon to whom you’re talking. For some, it may be a hot bowl of chicken soup on a rainy day. Others might feel the nostalgia wash over them when having a PB&J for lunch. Nostalgia might also taste like a juicy hot dog, topped with mustard, ketchup, relish, and all of your favorites, made just the way you like it at this hot dog restaurant near Pittsburgh.

While you're in Punxsutawney Phil's hometown, plan to visit Gobbler's Knob and to stop by and say hi to Phil and his wife, Phyllis.

Frank's Star Lunch claims quite a storied history in Punxsutawney, originally known as Original Star Lunch and opening in 1922 with Frank Mamolito at the helm.

The old school hot dog joint remained a staple in the community until 1964, when it closed. Mr. Mamolito passed down his famous hot dog sauce to his daughter, and his grandsons sold it at a local hot dog stand for years.

Several years ago, Frank and Chuck Hetrick reintroduced the 21st century Frank's Star Lunch, still serving that famous hot dog sauce that will soon turn 100 years old.
