The Real Haunted House Near Pittsburgh You Won’t Want To Visit Alone
Psst… do ghost stories chill you to the bone? Leave you awake at night, cringing at every creak, and imagined footstep you hear? Well, if ghost stories leave you shaking, just wait until you visit this haunted house near Pittsburgh. Sure, it’s an annual autumn attraction designed to provide thrills and chills; however, unlike many other haunted houses, this house really is haunted by tortured spirits.
Tortured souls are said to haunt the McCue Family Estate - commonly known as Demon House - in Monongahela.
Built in the 1870s at the behest of Carla McCue, the mansion is believed to have been built on an old Indian burial ground. In fact, more than 70 unmarked graves were unearthed at the site.
During her lifetime, Carla's "healing powers" drew visitors from all over the U.S. and from as far away as Scotland, all in search of healing from illness, disease, and evil spirits. (Yet, some considered Carla herself an entity of evil.)
But, that's not all - visit the Deserted Mine Shaft and the Secluded Mining Town. Then, sit by a roaring campfire; watch a horror film outdoors, and purchase goodies from the concession stand.
Plan your visit to Demon House, which runs Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through October 28, 2018. Or, visit Friday and Saturday, November 2 and 3, 2018.
