Pile the whole family in the car for a scenic journey, passing beautiful wintry landscape, to Blue Knob All Seasons Resort, in Claysburg, just under two hours from downtown Pittsburgh.
A favorite year-round destination, Blue Knob is particularly popular in the winter with the highest skiable mountain summit in Pennsylvania, clocking in at 3,172 feet above sea level.
Glide down the mountain that boasts a breathtaking vertical drop of around 1,082 feet. If you’re a new skier, you can sign up for skiing lessons. (Lessons are available for both adults and children.)
Don’t worry if you have a fear of heights. Blue Knob also offers cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing. Explore more than six miles of the picturesque, groomed trail.
For fast-paced thrills, grab a snow tube that will take you down the Allegheny Mountains. Snow tubing is available in two-hour sessions, and sessions must be reserved in advance.
Clubhouse Bar & Grill, right at the resort, dishes up delicious meals, so you can recharge before heading back out on the mountain. Its other restaurant, the Black Bear Inn, is temporarily closed.
