Go On A Halloween Hike And Meet Creatures Of The Night At Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve In Pittsburgh
Psst…how excited are you that the spookiest season of the year has arrived? Have you already started decorating, sipping pumpkin-spice latte, and burning pumpkin-flavored candles? If you have then you’re probably already working on filling your autumn calendar. Consider adding a Halloween hike at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve in Pittsburgh to your list of activities this fall.
During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
Bring the whole family along for an autumn evening of fun at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve’s “Creatures of the Night,” a fun and educational hike, on select evenings in mid-October.
The Fox Chapel nature reserve is a popular outdoor destination all year around. However, it takes on a spooky aura during crisp October evenings.
Add another level of fun to the evening by having the whole family dress in their Halloween costumes. Just make sure everyone’s wearing comfy shoes for this “non-scary” hike.
Fireflies and the glow of the moon will help illuminate the darkened path that’s dotted with surprises. A Great Horned Owl, for example, will tell tales of the season.
You’ll also run across other life-sized costumed creatures, including a Flying Squirrel who amazes with acrobats and an adorable Little Brown Bat. You might even meet a real animal or two.
Creatures of the Night will be held on select evenings with three session times – 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. – each evening. You must register in advance for the event that costs $6 for members and $10 for non-members. Kiddos younger than two are free.
If you can’t make it to Creatures of the Night at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve, check out the dates for the same event at Succop Nature Park in Butler and Buffalo Creek Nature Park in Sarver.
