Here’s The Perfect Weekend Itinerary If You Love Exploring Pittsburgh’s Best Antique Stores
Is there ever not a good time for a road trip? Of course not! So, next time you’ve got a weekend or a few days free, pack your bags for an epic antiquing road trip. You’ll visit the City of Antiques, stop at an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, and sleep in a charming bed and breakfast. Oh, and you’ll also visit some of the best antique stores near Pittsburgh. Ready to go?

Pittsburgh and the surrounding area have countless antique stores. This weekend road trip is just the tip of proverbial iceberg. Add stops along the way. Use the road trip as an inspiration to create your own road trip. Or, follow it to the T. Whatever you decide, have fun!

First stop: Canonsburg! Known as the City of Antiques, Canonsburg is a half an hour from downtown Pittsburgh. Start your journey at Route 19 Antiques. The antique mall features vintage items from two dozen collectors. Spend some time browsing for treasures, including in the clearance area (30 percent off). Layaway is available. Route 19 Antiques is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Next stop: Vintage Secrets Antique Mall. The charming antique mall features an assortment of collectibles and antiques from 35 dealers. Keep an eye out for sales while you're browsing. Vintage Secrets Antique Mall welcomes shoppers Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All that antiquing probably has you a bit, well, famished, right? Well, you can't visit Canonsburg without a stop at Sarris Candies. Stock up on all of your favorite chocolates then head to the old-fashioned ice cream parlor. Sit down with a delicious treat, such as a banana split, an ice cream float, an ice cream soda, or an old-fashioned ice cream sundae. The Ice Cream Parlour at Sarris Candies is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Ready for some more antiquing? Keep exploring Canonsburg. Or, hit the road for the next part of your road trip to the Laurel Highlands. Less than four miles from Fallingwater, Country Seasons Bed & Breakfast Inn promises a cozy night's sleep. Choose from one of four charming guest rooms. Start your morning with a hearty, homemade breakfast before beginning your day's exploration. Several antique stores are on the itinerary. But, you might also want to carve out some time for a trip to Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob, or Ohiopyle State Park.

Up first today: Bigam's Antiques. Plan to spend a good bit of time browsing the thousands of antiques. Vintage signs, glass bottles, and vintage sewing machines are among the treasures you'll find. Bigam's Antiques is open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Call ahead of time. Bigam's Antique's is a seasonal shop, with the 2018 season expected to kick off in the late spring.)

Explore Dave's Mountain Antiques, a self-described "ma and pa shop" that features more than 10,000 antiques and collectibles for sale. Stroll around the antique shop, browsing the antiques, collectibles, primitives, and pottery. (That, of course, is just the beginning.) Dave's Mountain Collectibles is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

After all the excitement of the weekend, you deserve a delicious dinner. Out of the Fire Cafe just happens to be the perfect spot for a relaxing meal.

The charming restaurant serves both lunch and dinner. Browse the menu that features such dishes as wild sea scallops, filet mignon, and salmon. Out of the Fire Cafe is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
