The thoroughbred named Winning Brew broke the record for race horse speed by running at 43.97 miles per hour.
2. Oldest cocktail on record
In 2005, a UPenn researcher announced the discovery of a 5,000 year old Mesopotamian cup containing traces of tartaric acid, honey, apple juice, and barley.
3. Largest furry convention
Each year Pittsburgh holds Anthrocon, the world's largest furry convention.
4. Highest insured hair
Head & Shoulders has insured football player Troy Polamalu's hair for $1 million.
5. Largest paint swatch
PPG Pittsburgh Paints set this record in 2011 with a 68 square foot swatch of spring green paint.
6. Most skips of a skipping stone
Kurt Steiner, of Red Bridge, PA, broke the world record for skipping a stone across water. He achieved 88 skips.
7. Largest s'more
In May 2014, a group of volunteers at the Deer Run Camping Resort in Gardner created a 267 pound s'more. No one was left wanting any... s'more.
8. Most dogs walked by one person at one time
Josph Orsino walked 35 dogs at one time on the North Shore of Pittsburgh. The walk took place in October of 2011 for the Lupus Loop Walk. We can only hope that no squirrels were in the area on the day of the event.
9. Most balloon sculptures made in an hour
John Cassidy was not clowning around the day he created 747 balloon animals in Newton in November of 2007.
10. Longest running civil court case
James Martin initially filed what became the Martin v Sample case on December 14, 1972, when he experienced academic discrimination after being declared disabled by the selective service.
11. Oldest heart bypass surgery
The University of Philadelphia Medical Center performed successful cardiac bypass surgery on not one, but five centarians.
12. Fastest time to eat a muffin with no hands
On November 19, 2013, Kyle Moyer ate a muffin in 28.18 in Coopersburg.
13. Largest litter of goats
Six pygmy goats were born in Julian in 2006.
14. Most people sword swallowing simultaneously
At the 2002 annual Sideshow Gathering and Sword Swallowers Convention in Wilkes-Barre, 19 sword swallowers swallowed 50 swords. Try saying that ten times fast.
15. Most costumed riders on a theme park ride
On April 18, 2011, 330 zombies rode the Steel Force rollercoaster at Dorney Park in Allentown, PA.
