Here Are The 10 Happiest Cities In Pennsylvania
Have you ever wondered how your town ranks as far as happiness goes in the state of Pennsylvania?
Credit Donkey looked at a variety of metrics in order to determine the ten happiest cities in the entire state. The factors that they took into account are: restaurants and bars per capita, crime rates, commute times, departure times for work in the morning, average household income, divorce rates, and cost of housing. These are the cities that they deemed the happiest in Pennsylvania.
Easton has a higher than average cost of living, and despite its proximity to New Jersey, residents there are extremely happy.
Pittsburgh is one of the best places in the country. Cost of living won't make you scream, divorce rates are low, and there are plenty of fun thing stop do there, like sports and restaurants.
With that gorgeous view of Lake Erie, who wouldn't be happy? Commute time here is pretty good, and the area's tourism does a good job of boosting local economy.
Residents of Lebanon tend to put less than a quarter of their income towards housing, and cost of living is pretty reasonable.
Williamsport has a pretty reasonable average commute time, at just over 16 minutes, and a fairly low crime rate.
Scranton, famously the setting of The Office, is also one of the happiest places in Pennsylvania. Violent crime averages are lower than average here, while median income is higher than average at about $37,000.
The small town of Hazleton is a fairly safe community with plenty of restaurants. It has a low divorce rate and a low cost of living.
Only about 10% of Wilkes-Barre residents are divorced, a percentage that pales in comparison to the national average.
Bethlehem is a wonderful place. It has a charming historic district that includes the Moravian Bookstore-- the oldest continuously operating bookstore in the world-- and a plethora of delicious restaurants. It's a safe, fun town located in the east side of the state.
Wow! Altoona is the happiest place in Pennsylvania. With a lower than average commute time, lower than average divorce rates, and low instances of violent crime, Altoona is the place to be.
